Nyra recovered first, always first, wings snapping open to stabilise her, and she drove the fleeing creature downward with her body like a spear. They crashed onto a roof. Tiles exploded. The Winged creature screamed. Nyra ripped its throat out. Black blood sprayed across broken tiles.

In the digital world, the Ghost Army was already moving through the shattered remnants of the mirror maze. "We hear you, Wraith!" Marcus (DragonSlayer99) bellowed, raising his silver shield as a digital explosion rocked the plaza. The game's equivalent of the real-world Mag-Lev transit stations were massive, glowing purple Summoning Gates. In standard gameplay, they were used by the Admin to spawn waves of flying gargoyles and heavily armored golems. Right now, the gates were glowing with blinding intensity, infinitely spawning massive, winged Obsidian Wyverns that immediately took to the red, glitching sky.

It seems they are actual wings to use like we are a damn pegasus. “Well that’s new,” says Ayla. She flaps her wings a few times before settling back on her back. I admitted, touching my hand to his chest. Gabe let out a huge breath of relief. "I brought you something." He reached into his pocket. "You did?" Gabe wasn't the kind of man to bring gifts. At least I hadn't thought so. He held up a bracelet. Made of leather with a pair of silver wings attached. "May I?" He held it out, and I brought my wrist up. When it was on, he turned over the wings. Carved on the back were our names and the word forever.

He holds it open and looks at me expectantly. I chew on the inside of my cheek. I push down my worries with a deep breath and limp into the connected room. Three pairs of wings are on display, but not like the others. These ones are clean and beneath each stands a table. The first set of wings are black and silver. And on the table is a gleaming silver sword. The second set of wings are snow white. A beautifully strange dagger lies on the table, its curved blade engraved with delicate designs and its hilt encrusted with precious stones.
