The imperial capital was a city of gilded masks and whispering secrets, its marble towers reaching for the heavens while its streets pulsed with the blood of the forgotten. Nia had walked its stone paths before, as a child, holding her mother’s hand as they shopped for food. Now, she walked as an assassin, her every step calculated, every breath measured. She was no longer Nia Wolfsong—the girl whose village had been burned and destroyed. Now, she was "Mist Fang," the most elusive, feared assassin in the empire.

Her voice was quiet, but heavy. “The wolves of the Eclipse.” Luka frowned. “What about them?” She lifted her gaze, and for the first time since waking, she looked truly, deeply unnerved. “According to this,” she murmured, “they weren’t just wolves.” She slowly turned the book around, revealing an aged illustration. Two wolves stood beneath an eclipsed moon—one black, one white. Tangled together. Bound. She took a slow breath. “They were more than mates.” Theoden’s jaw clenched.

Troy asked. “This generation it’s Stryxx and Dove. Last generation it was Shyfter and Anaki. Our OG generation was Kurgi and Skye. That makes 3 different, distinct wolf spirits inside of Rei! Every thing I need him to accomplish he does it without questions. There is no better human.” Dove smiled. “I will agree to sit with you, be candid and honest with you about Briar, Kitsune, and I, you let Briar live, and punish me as you see fit.” Troy offered.

She really wanted to come but I told her to stay home to rest up for the fight. The wolves that have stayed behind are all warriors. It is time to amp up security and training. I walk towards the training field and see about one hundred fifty wolves. “Thank you for all being here. We will be under attack in a few days. I have brought some witches here for you to practice against.” I say waving my hand over to Stella’s family. “Okay let us get started. Everyone line up!” I yell. Spell’s start flying and wolves start shifting. This is very hard, but necessary. By the end of the day the wolves and the witches are battered and bruised but alive. I look around and I am really proud of my men.

Sharper. All heads turned. And then—they arrived. Ten wolves in gray armor. My friend hadn’t let me down. They crashed into the rogues like a wave. The battle shifted. We pressed forward again. Rosa’s POV I caught Hark’s scent before I saw him. He stepped into the clearing. Alone. Tall. Smiling. “You brought outsiders?” he mocked. “I brought justice.” He charged. We met in the middle. Fury and history in every strike. Claws clashed. Old scars ripped open again.

The stadium had descended into a war zone. The screaming of the fleeing spectators was drowned out by the bone-chilling howls of the spirit wolves pouring from the rift. They swarmed the liquid track, a sea of translucent white fur and glowing violet eyes, focusing entirely on Kaelen. Kaelen was buried to his waist in the boiling obsidian tar, his upper body half-shifted into a mass of dark fur and muscle. He slammed his fists into the first wave of spirit wolves, ripping them into violet mist, but three more took their place, sinking their ethereal jaws into his shoulders to pin him down.

The white wolf watched his mate with pride as she explained to her cousins. The wolves continued to howl until the flames had died down and the last embers were burned out. Carr took Lee's hand, sent his thanks to his pack, and then left with the bereaved families to talk further. As they walked away the owl took flight, calling to his mate in a low-pitched but loud ho-ho-hoo hoo hoo. Carr looked up and smiled at the ghostly apparition as he winged his way across the sky. A good omen.

I felt my wolf shake with rage inside me as I turned my head up to face the soldiers squinting down at the horde from the walls, their arrows drawn, the blue tips of the metal glinting, laced with wolfsbane. They were waiting for my command as more of my men marched into the castle to set up their positions and I jumped off the horse, turning on my feet to face the incoming stampede of shadowlings. “How the hell are these things moving in daylight? Blasted hells! What has Gobar done?” Gallagher growled beside me and I felt something sharp pierce my chest when I remembered the beast still had my brother. Guilt? Surely Alpha Toph deserved his banishment even if I had planned it.

He snapped back, revealing that something had gone wrong. “And what happened?” I still pushed ahead with my questions “She refused to see anyone. Who knows what is bugging her.” It was very clear that my wolf being turned away hit him harder than he wanted. According to my wolf, every wolf spirit lives in the spirit world where they had contact with the moon goddess but there is a catch, the moment they return, almost everything concerning the spirit world simply fades from their minds. Apart from basic information, you could never get anything out of the wolves and that is because they don't recall anything once they are back.

Tired of running, tired of fighting, tired of losing the people I loved. But I could not stop. ************************ Suddenly, the Spirit Map floated higher in the air. Seven glowing spirits appeared around it—representations of the Seven District Alphas, shown only through spirit energy. None of them looked united. None of them looked friendly.
