THE CURSE OF THE FIFTH MATE
The shadows twisted, bending like they recognized her, and then, they came.
The spirits of the white wolves.
They didn't howl. They didn't speak. They stood at the edges of the grove, their fur shimmering with ethereal light, their eyes glowing with truths long buried. Some were small, some large, male and female alike, yet they all bore the same burden in their gaze—one Veyra knew too well. Isolation. Power. Destiny.
But the last spirit stepped forward.
She was tall, regal, her fur so white it nearly glowed blue under the bloodlight. Her eyes, however, were broken glass—sharp with agony. She walked directly to Veyra and opened her mouth.
