I'd feel a stab in my heart, making me hurry more. I was praying for Giselle to remain unhurt. I couldn't see her hurt again. She'd already spent so much time in the hospital, broken and weak. Waylon and I had almost lost her once. We wouldn't be able to stay sane if we had to experience the same again. I ran faster, and when I finally reached the end of the maze, I heard the noises coming from a container nearby. When I circled it and reached its opening, I saw Giselle somehow standing upright, bloodied.

"Is that some trick from Kianzangi?" Aurelia punched him in the arm, "Stop that, if you knew why he stuffed the moss in his ears you'd be doing it too." Gael stopped laughing, "I'd like to hear the tale." As they walked through the poisoned area Aurelia told the story. When she reached the end of the tale she giggled as Gael grabbed some moss and said something like, "It's better to be safe than sorry." The Al, Miraj stopped at the edge of a small valley. There at the bottom was a small settlement. Gael yanked the spyglass from his satchel and peered down in the valley, "What are those?"

Jeb ducked behind Paul, and he made himself as wide as possible as there was a yelp of pain behind them. He turned to see Jill was hit in the leg. She stumbled, and one of the Guardians from Margie’s team swooped her up and rushed her back up the stairs, out of the fray. There were still several Guardians on the first floor, clearing rooms, but through his IAC, Paul could see they hadn’t found anything, so he thought the Hunter would be relatively safe up there.

” Gael crossed her arms over her chest. Garrick snapped, “you won’t do such a thing.” He turned Gael to the side and pushed her. Gael screamed, falling and falling. Then Thud! Garrick smiled maliciously; he started climbing down the hill. He had to confirm that she was dead. Upon reaching down, Gael was breathing shallowly, “why?” she asked. “Because the pack is mine and you will not steal it from me. Never.” “No, I…” Gael didn’t get to finish. Garrick leaned down and covered her mouth with his palm. “Be gone dear sis, I was happy living as an orphan anyway.”

My stomach lurched violently. "Let's keep moving," I gritted out, turning away from the horrific sight and toward another archway on the far side of the courtyard. The maze punished us for our choice. We encountered a staircase that looped back on itself no matter which direction we climbed. A bridge that extended further the more we walked across it. A room filled with identical doors, each leading to a different point in the maze we'd already passed. At one point, we found Mara kneeling over Lissa's unconscious form near a patch of suspiciously red mushrooms.

Kael ran as fast as he possibly could. For a Lycan, that meant faster than the speed of light. Zara was still hurt from the former battle, and her exhausted body gave out midway through their escape. He had no choice but to carry her on his back to avoid losing any more time. She was slipping in and out of consciousness. Her surroundings kept shifting, flashing into something different between blinks, like a film reel that kept skipping. She was awake when she saw Kael blow past the castle's entrance doors. Then she was out. When her eyes opened again, they were deep in the twisted bushes of the maze, thorny branches scraping at the air around them. Then she was gone again.

“You have to save us, Baby Robbie!” Baby Robbie scratched the back of his head in annoyance. “I want to save all of you too, but if I get you out of here, you’ll still die if there’s no one around to detoxify the poison.” Zayne howled in agony, “Then are you just going to watch us die?” Baby Robbie said, “Don’t worry. Gale went into the poison sect to steal the antidote.” At this moment, Jenson was slightly stunned. Gale was a youngster around their age. He looked rather frail and petite; appearing somewhat mediocre and peculiar. Only after getting to know him did Jenson realize Gale was a treasure.
