It was a jewel that I was meant to treasure with my very life. It has come back to me, I thought as I reached out for the familiar object.

“Multicolored in grey hues?” It’s from the Tiffany website and the price tag is… “Holy Christ,” I murmur. “Seventeen-point-five K?” My eyes lift to meet his. “There’s also the rare peacock pearl,” he informs me. “Cultured in French Polynesia. One of the rarest and most expensive of all pearls.” My gaze narrows. “Why would you pay so much?” “You don’t think you’re worth it?” he easily queries, staring intently at me.
