The drawing showed him. But not the way she usually drew him. This version of him was lying on the floor. Blood was pouring from his stomach. Lance’s stomach twisted.

He smiled, “Go for it, babe. I know you’ll make them awesome.” I started on the basement nursery. I drew a dragon surrounding a howling wolf, with a harvest moon in the background. Then I walked to the first-floor nursery and drew a gold dragon flying with a blue sky and the gold sun in the background. In the second-floor nurseries, I drew the Moon Goddess standing over three wolf cubs in one, I drew the Moon Goddess standing over three baby dragons in another, then I drew the Moon Goddess standing over two sleeping baby dragons and one sleeping wolf cub. As I bent down to pick it up, I realised it had fallen open to a specific page. The illustration staring back at me held me in place like a beast with its claws in my chest. It was a drawing of a monster with long, dried-up black hair, claw-like nails, and prominent fangs. Below the drawing was a single red drop of blood, as if it were dripping from the fangs. I narrowed my eyes, trying to decipher the ancient, jagged writing that surrounded the drawing:

“Like what?” “Anything that means cold to you.” The girl stared at the blank stone plate set into the floor just outside the ward circle. Then, after a long breath, she began to draw. At first the line was clumsy. Then it narrowed. Then it curved into a shape that looked like a snow crystal split through the center, delicate and sharp at once. She finished the last stroke and stepped back. Celeste watched it for half a second and then said, “Now feed cold into it.”

For a moment, the usual hardness in his expression faded as he stared at the drawings. He raised a finger and pointed at the first figure. “This one is the Luna holding Gab,” he said softly. Then he pointed to the figure beside her. “And this one… that’s you.” I stared at the rough sketches on the wall. Even with simple charcoal lines, the drawing somehow captured the protective way I always stood. “And this is Henry,” Julius continued, moving his finger to the next figure. “And these two have to be Alpha Stone and Mr. D. And this one…”

I was underlining the picture and coloring and shadowy the part of the picture. Once I was done. I gasped and hid my flush face because I had drawn a girl with beautiful platinum blonde hair and purple eyes, but I kept my eyes on her. Oh, my God! The drawing looks just like-

Then something on the back of the blueprint Joy was holding caught her eye. Her gaze sharpened instantly. "Who said I couldn’t draw it?" Stellar raised an eyebrow, her voice calm but firm. "I can redraw it right now. Exactly as it was." She walked over to a nearby desk, pulled out a fresh sheet of paper, picked up a pen, and started to sketch. At first, everyone dismissed it as a bluff. But as minutes ticked by and the lines came together, the entire blueprint took shape—clear, precise, and stunning.
