George wiped a hand over his hair and chuckled coldly. "Now is not the time to play games Alpha." George warned, his tone almost sounding familiar to Asher's ears. "Do I look jolly?" Asher bit back. "Where's Joshua?" Jamie finally spoke up, this earned a glance towards Asher from both George and Deidran. Asher kept his mouth shut. George's hands fell at his side in realization at the Alpha's hesitance. "She's not in the mansion, is she?" George quizzed. "Does it matter?" Asher shrugged.

Why had he waited twelve years to look for her? He blinked hard, his throat tightening. “Why didn’t you come back…” he whispered into the empty room. “You promised.” There was a knock at the door. Nathan stepped in, hesitating as he saw George still holding the letter. “Sir... the security team tracked down someone matching the photo’s metadata. They believe he’s still in New York. Apparently, he used to work for your father—off the books.” George’s eyes sharpened. “Off the books?”
