He just frowned, a deep line appearing between his eyebrows, and he started talking.
But he wasn't speaking English.
“...crazy! What the hell are you doing here in my alley? Your noise is a disgrace! I told you not to cause problems!” His voice was sharp, rapid-fire German, coming out like bullets, totally cutting through my panic. He was clearly furious, but his fury wasn't about the chase; it was about the noise.
I just stood there, jaw hanging open, trying to catch maybe one word in five. I knew 'verrückt' meant 'crazy' or 'mad,' and the rest was just a blur of complicated, angry words.
