“The real map. One you won't find so easily. ” I narrowed my eyes. “You’ve been holding out on us.” He didn’t deny it. “I was waiting to see if you’d be stupid enough to try,” he said, voice low. “Now I know you are. So I might as well help you live through it.” He jabbed a weathered finger at the center of the scroll. It showed the Nytherra lands, but this version read deeper into the north. Black mountains. Winding ravines. Symbols in a language I barely understood.

Fen jogged back to the table and folded the map before giving it to them. "You can also have this map and be sure to be aware of the dangers of harsh weather. Your raptors will be waiting for you in the courtyard." Akame took the map and put it in her pocket. “No need for raptors.” Fen looked confused. “Excuse me?” “Lord, I heard that you’ve run across the desert before.” Akame glanced at Matthew. “I did, yeah.” “Then we shall do that. The raptors will be a hindrance in a fight and merely more mouths to feed. We will proceed with our own selves. Is that alright with you?”
