The wind picked up, and the leaves rustled with an eerie whisper. "Do you feel that?" Marinetta asked, her voice tense. Harley nodded, his eyes scanning the surroundings. "Something's not right. We need to investigate." They followed the disturbance deeper into the forest, their senses alert. As they approached a clearing, they saw a figure standing in the center, surrounded by a shimmering aura of dark energy. Marinetta and Harley approached cautiously, their hands on their weapons. The figure turned to face them, revealing a gaunt, spectral appearance. It was a ghostly apparition, its eyes filled with a haunting sadness.

I whispered. Gina was shaking, terror flashing in her eyes. I wish I knew what to tell her but I knew nothing about ghosts. My brothers did but during their time as hunters, they dealt more with the physical. I would have learned about ghouls last in my training and it would have been light reading. "I think this is your unique gift as a vampire," I said since it was the only thing that could explain why she was seeing ghosts in the first place. "Seeing ghosts?" She asked, taking a few careful steps.

Mark laid on the ground groaning and things about his past kept popping into his head. “Ro..se..” He stuttered with his last strength. He was going to die a weak man and that wasn’t fair. After few minutes of reminiscing what was happening and what had happened to him and his family, he saw an image walking closer to where he laid with pains all over his body. It was a man in his late thirties just as he was but he just couldn’t get to see who it was. The man’s face was blur. And no matter how hard he tried to strain his eye sight to see who it was he just couldn’t get a perfect gaze at him.

As the duo watched hordes of ghosts wandering along the streets of the town, it wasn’t long before a few phantom soldiers—riding phantom horses—encircled Gerald and Rey! “Both of you, come with us!” ordered one of the soldiers in a frigid tone.

"Wha-? G-phone has an AI too?" Laura raised a brow. AI? Did this geek really think that an AI would be this intelligent? Was he living in a fantasy world? "No, I have a name. It's Laura and to be more precise, I'm currently an e-ghost. That means I am dependent on your power source in the phone and cannot leave the phone until I level up enough. For your information, this isn't a programmed back story, don't look at me like that. I'm a real human... was a real human anyway. I died many years back, I think."

I tried to calm her down. "I think it was villain X, Autumn. I think it was him. It has to be him!" She gave me a firm nod and licked her lips nervously. "Nah, I still think it was Casper. Who is Villain X anyway? The one from the X-files? Aliens are not real though ghosts pretty much are. I saw one when I was a kid, it did not look as cute as Casper but it was a ghost. I am sure of it. They can not get past a salt line you know, so I guess we should have salt in hand just in case the vengeful spirit is—"

Aria stayed frozen by the window long after the car disappeared, her new expensive heels lying forgotten on the floor. Ghost wasn’t just watching her online anymore. He was here. In her city. In her life. And she had no idea how deep his eyes had already gone.

“Let’s break it down. Four roles. Four entrances.” She moved to a screen and scribbled rough silhouettes with her finger. “Me: tech contact. I’ll tap into their signal from outside and flood the performance feed if things go south. Vivienne: wildcard. You play a ghost. A face from the past they never expected. You only show yourself if it gives us an advantage. Dorian: ghost patron. You wear a dead man’s mask. One of the elite who ‘died’ in the last cull.

The greenish-blue glow was a little off, but nearly every single window was wide open! The frost wraith, Chloe, floated to the front. Her little face was wrinkled with worry. The Hungry Dead clutched his precious empty bowl. His drool threatened to spill from the corners of his mouth, but his eyes were full of concern. The banshee had stopped crying, sniffing and staring upward.
