Roxy stands up to go help him and the ginger girl looks at me and smiles. “You’re the girl Payne was with aren’t you?”, she asks and hearing his name makes me flinch as if I was in pain. “Yeah”, I answer and the other one wraps her arm around mine. “Is he was good in bed as other girls say? I wouldn’t mind trying it on”, she says smiling at her friend. “Excuse me”, I say standing up and walking out of the pub.

I sigh and started to wipe away my face with the back of my palm and rubbed my eyes with my fingers not caring about the mascara which I knew wouldn't bulge because it was hella waterproof. I continued to wipe off any excess until I found myself shuddering for some reason. My head flew up and I looked back at the forth until my eyes landed on the man who stared at me---scratch that, he threw glares at my head. When he found me returning his stare, he immediately looked away towards his girlfriend and his friends. They were all apparently laughing at something except him. Suddenly Scarlett snuggled closer to him and placed her head on his shoulder. His lips twisted in a small smile.

We found a small table near the window. For almost an hour, we talked. Work. Childhood memories. How ridiculous rich people were. How ridiculous Xavier was. I laughed. A real laugh, deep from my belly. Not the forced ones I’d been giving everyone lately. It feels so good to catch up with my best friend. Then I noticed it. A woman staring. At first, I ignored it. People stare all the time but she kept looking and whispering to her friend. Then both of them started glancing over.

The soft echo of the clientele's hushed conversations become non existent. All that exists is this absurdly handsome man and the havoc his dark gaze plays on my senses. I struggle to look away, but I'm frozen, rooted to the spot, my body ringing with a thousand different emotions. When I begin to feel like I cannot take it anymore, his girlfriend nudges him, seeking his attention. His icy stare still firmly on me, he doesn't answer her cryptic calls. Curious, she follows the line of his gaze and her beautiful hazel eyes land on me.

I answered teasingly. She rolled her eyes, but there's a small smile on her face. "They're staring at you like you've grown twenty heads" I smiled as we entered the empty elevator "They are just shocked I finally got a girlfriend" I shook my head slowly, still smiling "We could've given them a show, you know? probably...." I jutted out my lips "A brief kiss would be nice" I said with a playful tone, but I meant every word. She raised a brow "And you think that will stop them from staring?"

The sight of Chad made me sick. "The base will hold a celebration feast tomorrow evening to award major contributors. They'll serve steaks, which most people can't afford! I already told Janice to invite you. After all, I'm already tired of steaks." Even though I felt sick to my stomach, the thought of getting released filled me with hope, although I didn't let it show on my face. Seeing my lack of reaction, Chad lost interest and left.
