Piper stared at the words, unblinking, her brain refusing to cooperate. She read the first line again. And again. Her grip loosened without her noticing. The glass slid from her fingers, hit the floor, and exploded—sound ricocheting through the apartment, water splashing against her bare ankles.

No one will know they’re slippers.”

In it is a single shoe made out of glass; it's absolutely stunning and must be a gift from Zayne. I guess I'm wearing this tonight. I smile as I open the bag to get the other foot, but it is not there. A single slipper, what am I going to do with this? I look in the bag again and grab a white card at the bottom with 'read me' written on it. I flip it over and begin to read. “Once upon a time, there was a prince.”
