Just beyond it was a small patch of trees and a gravel path. That’s when I saw her. A woman in black leaned against a tree, her posture too casual, too calculated. It was as if she had been waiting for me. She motioned towards me, stopping right in front of me. “You must be Tessa,” she said, pushing off the trunk. She was stunning—tall, dark eyeliner, crimson lips, and a silver pendant that shimmered in the sun. Something about her felt… off. “I’m Raven,” she said with a chilling smile. “Ryder’s ex.”

Caitlin opened her eyes and looked first at Raven’s broken body. The blood lay like a thick red pool around her. Her blue-black hair lay across one cheek like a shawl. She made herself move on. Her gaze swept the room, settled on Ray. He was kneeling beside Raven, examining her to assure himself she was dead. He stood up, backed away two feet, cleared his throat, and spat at the body. He reached behind him for a canvas bag and yanked it open. Gleefully he seized a thick, pointed stake and held it out for her to see.

"Knowing you're not one for flashy presents, I had the Underboss hit up all the big luxury brands six months ago to get your anniversary present sorted. "Do you like it?" At a glance, I recognized the mini ear studs from the jewelry store, the ones thrown in with the purchase of that fancy green jade necklace. I nearly burst into laughter from sheer frustration, dodging his attempt to adorn me with the studs. I settled onto the armchair, responding to my family's messages in our group chat.

“You are glowing. And I love it. I love you.” Lunaryn wagged her tail again, smug as hell. “Told you. Best pack ever.” I sighed, blissed out and surrounded by heat, muscle, and love. “Yeah. Best damn pack ever.” ___________________________ The next morning... Kael POV Riven was leaning against the doorframe, tossing his damn comb in the air like we weren’t twenty minutes away from walking into the next trial. “Maybe today I’ll do it blindfolded,” he said, that cocky grin plastered across his face. “Make it interesting.”

“Not a single ounce of love for you Kenna.” “Then I’d rather die than watch you choose her over me!” she screamed. “Then prepare yourself,” I shot back savagely. “Because if death is the price for Ginnie to become my rightful Luna…you’ll have to pay it.” Lady Ravena slammed her staff against the floor. “This is forbidden!” “I don’t give a single fuck about what’s forbidden or not,” I roared. “Because I’m going to rewrite that damn law in Bleeding Rose. For her—“

“The coin. The token. The sigil.” He worked his bruised fingers to his neck with an animal’s stubbornness, and for a heartbeat I thought he’d been trying to tear the ropes. Instead he tugged something slick and dark from under his shirt… a small, familiar pendant wrapped in dried blood. I knew it before he held it up. It was Raven’s…no, not the woman’s face I’d seen, but the emblem she wore when she met with Kieran months ago: a raven midflight, talons bared, the same tiny etching I’d seen on a medallion once handed to our enemies.

"The Royal House of Varkos must be more generous than we believe, since you are a princess..." "Please, I’m sure she meant well." Clara looked crestfallen, as if feeling bad for the backlash Leah was facing. "Lee is my friend. She must have been mistaken." "Mistaken?" Luna Laurent’s voice was shrill. "How could she say such a thing even if she is mistaken? What if we weren’t here and she defamed you?" Leah let out a scoffing laugh, shaking her head. "Luna Laurent, I didn’t want to expose the Mooncrest Pack, but… where did you say you donated? Volkov Central, Kirov Rehabilitation, or the Border Recovery Wing?”

Making me feel like i just asked the worst question. "Well", he said his voice going back to how it usually was, the voice that would make a stranger run for the hills. "Well I'm Bryan Raven, lived in New York most of my life till now. Cause my dad thinks I can jump off our apartment, so here I am being catered by you guys", he said finally with his face going plane. "Well trust me they're way more places to kill yourself here than in New York", i said matter factly trying to lighten his mood. "And you'll also have enough reasons not to, believe me", I said practically whispering it, hoping he heard me. I hope i never give up on him, he deserves so much, he deserves to br fought for.

No one knows who Raven is, and the fact that she was known as the killing machine made people in the assassin community assumed her to be a man. Who would have thought that he would be a she? "Now, Raven. Let me introduce you to your new team. This guy with dark blue hair will be responsible behind the scenes. He specializes in computers, and he'll be a very great help when tracking and looking for escape routes." Mr. Black gestured to the guy with a hair color close to black.

I’ve never even had underwear; I only had one, which I had since sixteen—the one Lyn gave me on my birthday, which I was sure she could have taken back if she hadn’t died that same night. Footsteps made me sit properly, as I didn't want Raven to find me sitting like that; it would just give her a reason to talk down on me. “This is Glinda the pack doctor; Glinda this is...” Raven said, and I stood up and stared at the women. She was tall, with pale skin and thin lips that were painted black just like her clothes; her white hair was hanging down her shoulders, white was a weird color but that's not what caught my attention; her eyes did—her black eyes.
