Blood hammered in my ears. “Continue watching, sir,” Rophas said, nodding toward the screen. I walked to the white sofa in my living room and sat, eyes fixed on the grainy footage. Clara kept begging. Then I saw two figures step into frame. It was Alexander and someone else. “Gloria!” The name tore from me. She stood there, calm and cruel. “Shoot her!” Gloria ordered, voice sharp as broken glass, hatred burning in her eyes as she stared at the masked man.

I endured the discomfort as I changed into the revealing uniform. Balancing a tray in my hands, I pushed open the door to the assigned private room. Then I saw Michele, seated in the place of honor. He wore a perfectly tailored black shirt, holding a costly cigar between his fingers. With his collar undone, the tattoo shimmered faintly in the shadows. Barbara was draped in designer brands and glittering jewels from head to toe. A sparkling new diamond necklace rested at her throat. Beyond the old tattoo, Michele's body showed no trace of her.

They were going to steal our acceptance letters and take our place in Greatpeak University. But when they saw us, John's brain stopped working for a moment. Christina was sallow and barely had any flesh on her bones. Her eyes were sunken and nearly dropping out of their sockets. Still, she was glaring at us with venom in her gaze. She ordered, "Don't just stand there! Beat them down, and we get the acceptance letters! When we leave this dump and get into Greapeak, we can do anything we want!" John charged ahead, ready for battle. Zacharias pulled me behind him. I snapped my fingers, then out came the village chief, the captain, and everyone else. They'd been hiding in the grass.

Rage brewed in my veins. "Let her go!" Emily roared. "Why such a hurry? Gloria's not coming?" Killian cooed in the most disdainful way possible. "After what you did to her? No." An air swept through Emily's nape accompanied by the distinctive scent of forest and potion brew carried by the wind. All heads turned to see who had come. Not far from us, Gloria stood. Her knee-length skirt was half torn, her henley shirt was ripped at the sleeves, and her hair was matted with sweat, dirt and dried blood.

Her body writhed as Roman’s claws sank into her chest. “Traitor!” Gloria howled. Her voice was a mix of disbelief and anger. Roman’s face was hard. “You’ve served your purpose,” he spat. “This was never your legacy. It’s mine.” But Gloria wasn’t finished. With blood spilling from her mouth, she lifted one trembling hand with her fingers curling as she began muttering words in a language I didn’t understand. Her dark magic surged one last time, wrapping around her and flowing into the distance—toward Gilly.

Looking breathtaking in her new designer dress, Gloria captured the essence of the celebration and exuded a sense of joy and accomplishment. Isabella, Linda, Ana, Maria, and Julia admired Gloria's courage and integrity. They admired her accomplishments and applauded her for staying true to herself and refusing the upgraded suite. They reminisced about the journey they had all been through, their challenges, and the remarkable transformations they had witnessed within themselves and each other.

Only after meeting Clive did Diana learn how much work a scenographer had to do during the setting up of a play, it wasn't just creating the sets. Then, almost automatically, he scanned the other names that made up the cast; all were known. Howard Butler in the titular role, Godfrey Trease in the supporting role… then the women: Gloria Dickson in the lead, Phillida Brent in the supporting role, Ethel Marchant…she knew them all by name because Clive was always talking about them, especially Gloria . He remembered a time when he had commented: "She's extremely dedicated, she doesn't let anything interfere with her career... that's why she goes far!"

Wayne smiled. Harlow ignored him, then went over to where Gloria lay breathing hard. “Ooh, what do I do?’’ Harlow touched Gloria’s chest. She then closed her eyes, searching for an answer. After a long concentration, her hands began to glow. She was doing her best to reverse Dean’s attack. "She needs to rest." Harlow said, stepping away from the bed. She staggered a bit. Wayne touched her arm. ’’You are beautiful, smart and-’’

Even Deloris was in a theater gown, looking all serious and professional. Ryan could see Stan, Troy, Gloria, Paige, Joel, and Mama Cora through the glass around the theater. But for Gloria who also had a grim look on her face, all the others looked excited. Ryan raised an eyebrow when one of the nurses began to fix a shield over his chest. The plan was clearly to shield the business end from his view.

Not a chance! Naomi staggered back, stunned. Her face was deathly pale, and she couldn't even utter a single word.
