Her eyes briefly met the young girl next to Jasper, her eyes wide and innocent, then flickering with unease as she watched them. The girl gripped Jasper's arm, her fingers showing no sign of letting go. Gone was the shame of being the other woman she had felt the night before. She clung to him like a delicate flower in need of protection. Elaine saw a ghost of her past self in her. She had been that girl once. As Elaine made to leave, Lucy caught her eye, a taunting smile playing on her lips, and she subtly gestured to her neck. Elaine's gaze followed, taking in the pale, soft skin marred by a patchwork of love bites—the unmistakable signs of passionate affection.

It contained a single book. “Woah! This is crazy,” Roger whispered. Lazarus walked up to the book, it was in a glass protective casing. “You didn’t know this was here, did you?” Velma asked. “No, I didn’t,” he clarified. Lazarus inspected the book. “What is it?” Nigel demanded. “It’s so beautiful,” Clarke admired. Lazarus gulped when he realized what it was. “It’s the Book of The God’s.”

As I take the book over to the couch to settle in, the door swings open. Startled by the sound of hit, I collapse onto the couch as I clutch the book to my pounding heart. When I realize that it's just him returning with containers I sigh in relief. He shuts the door quietly and holds out the container for me. "Thank you" I say as I sit the book aside to take it. I open the container and see that half of it contains bacon. There is also a serving of fruits and a small bowl of oatmeal. I quickly bite into a piece a bacon and savor the perfect crunch of it.
