A tear slipped down her cheek, silent and unacknowledged, and it only served to stoke the flames of my anger.
I shoved the barrel of the gun against her lips, the cold metal pressing into her mouth. She didn’t move, didn’t resist, just stared at me with those empty eyes that I had missed so much in these months apart. The look in them was too much, too raw, too filled with a pain that mirrored my own. It made something inside me twist, made the rage falter for just a second.
