The Price Of Fate
I declared.
The world answered. Gold burst out of me. Not flame. Light. It tore through my body so suddenly that I gasped, my hands flying out as if I could hold it back. It poured from my chest, my eyes, my skin, the golden scales covering me, and rushed across the square in a wide bright wave. It did not burn the living. It passed over Ronan like warmth. It brushed Spiro and made his eyes widen. It swept through Keiran’s bell, turning its sound deeper, cleaner. It moved around the captives, around the wounded, around the Alphas, around children clinging to their mothers.
