"Yeah, yeah, it's profound, ancestral communion with the earth," Ginny teased, rolling her golden eyes affectionately. She reached for the heavy cardboard carton of farm-fresh eggs resting on the counter. "Hand me the vanilla extract, will you?"
Leela dutifully reached for the small, brown glass bottle near the spice rack, but her hand suddenly froze mid-air.
Ginny didn't even notice. She casually picked up a massive, brown egg and cracked it expertly, with a sharp clack, against the hard rim of the ceramic mixing bowl. With both thumbs, she pulled the fragile shell apart.
