Roman’s fingers curled tightly around mine as we stepped through the wide entrance doors, his head turning in every direction as he admired the glittering window displays and blinking toy advertisements. Roman picked out three beginner-level books about airplanes and proudly recited the titles aloud to the amused cashier, who gave him a sticker for being such a good reader. After that, we stopped at the art supply store next door. I told him he could pick just one new color palette. Naturally, he chose three and tried to hide two behind his back. I caught him, of course.

The battle for the temple, the miracle of the oil, and the general message of standing up for what’s right. Nik probably didn’t understand any of it yet. He was probably just entranced by the scarlet robe on Judah Maccabee, or the golden gleam of the lamp. But I believed it didn’t matter.

My hand subconsciously moved to my stomach. I opened the first page carefully and began to read. The story was simple, but beautifully written with soft and gentle words in a way that not only children, but even adults, could fall in love with it. Not only that, it was filled with really beautiful illustrations that made me smile. I couldn’t help but imagine my little one in my arms while I hugged the baby just like Mama Bear hugged her precious little cub. “Let’s go home and read this together,” I murmured happily.

It was at the playground, when she’d come to pick up Lisa–the extra cute little girl I’d instantly fallen in love with the moment I laid eyes on her. “Of course I do. How‘s little Lisa?” “She’s good. And she won’t stop talking about you.” “She’s a nice kid.” I admitted, “She is,” Rose agreed, before her gaze shifted to the book in my hands. “Interesting selection,” she commented, with a small smile and I looked down at the book I'd picked. ‘Beginners Guide; How to Ruin a Man in Bed.’ Out of all the books in the library, I just had to pick this one. Heat rose to my cheeks—good thing it was hidden beneath the curtain of my hair.

Easing herself between the satin sheets that seemed to be all that the castle had to offer as far as bedding, she fluffed her pillow, closed her eyes, and immediately fell into a deep slumber. He was back. His familiar lean body gently positioned over her. She was naked again, but she didn’t mind. The sensation of satin as it teased her flesh mingled with his caresses as his lips embraced hers in a long, languid kiss. The result was an immediate erotic arousal that made her mad with want for more.
