“Lines,” I murmured, stepping slightly closer, letting the warmth of my presence brush against him, “aren’t they meant to be tested? Just a little? I promise, I’m not asking for more than a harmless crossing.”
He shook his head, lips pressing into a thin line. “You make it very… difficult to stay composed.”
I let my smile widen, playful, almost victorious. “Good,” I whispered, letting the words linger between us, soft and charged, “I like it when someone challenges me back.”
