“Goodnight.” Before she could say goodnight to him, he leaned down and kissed her lips. It actually came in the nick of time because her lips were beginning to get a chill. The kiss wasn’t long or deep but it was sweet and gentle. Ray leaned back into his own space. “Goodnight, Ray,” she whispered as her cheeks warmed.

Said the chauffeur. “You can help me with that if you don’t mind”. I slipped on my glasses. The chauffeur turned on the stereo, and then came a gentle blast of ‘Hello’, by Adele, filling up the silence in the car, and, I loved that calm motherly voice with which Adele dealt some justice to the pretty instrumentals. I rested my head against the seat’s headrest, and shot a smile at a signpost which read; ‘welcome to Guts Island’, But then came a flash of my ex-husband’s face on the fourth night of the previous month, drunk and scary, yelling and lowering towards my panicked face, making me sit up and gasp for air.

Gently, he lifted her chin, planting a lingering goodnight kiss upon her perfectly sculpted lips. "I love you," he whispered in the dark.

She warns before I put her on the bed. “Come on, I just want to cuddle and watch a movie” I laugh. “Fine, but I’m going to sleep” She smiles, cuddling into my chest. “Goodnight Kiss” I smile, kissing her head. “Goodnight Daniel” She mumbles, soft snores being heard. I start to calm down from our little episode, admiring the marks on Kisses neck.
