The doors part and the two of them rush out first, heels clicking fast against stone, scanning the room for someone worth the effort. I follow behind. Sound reaches me first. Chips clattering against a table with laughter rolling under it all. Then the room opens up, and everything I survived at the gala and the opera shrinks against what's in front of me. Poker tables fill the centre of the room, dealers moving cards across green felt while men in expensive watches stare at their hands. A roulette wheel spins somewhere to my left. Pool tables take up the far end, surrounded by people holding glasses and cues. Cigar smoke curls toward the ceiling in slow ribbons. Stacks of money change hands

Simone muttered under her breath feeling their dirty looks even though their partners stood beside them. “Number 35.” She spoke her gambling number of the price that was on stake. The sounds of the screaming, shuffling and whispering resonated in her ears, but her eyes were fixated on the Roulette and the round Roulette ball that was now currently rotating on various numbers jumping around. She crossed her fingers under the table as the men eyed her with a smirk. "If you don't win, tonight you are ours.” The men said in a vicious tone which didn't do anything better but made her smirk witnessing the way they were giving her predatory looks.

My breath slightly hitched as I realized that this was Lucien Giovanni's true playground. I approached a roulette table where a massive pile of chips was already changing hands. If I wanted to catch his attention, I had to make a scene. I had to become an anomaly. I pulled out a stack of cash—the last of my actual savings—and exchanged them for a modest pile of betting chips.

Everything glittering with dragon gold and vampire glamour. Dragons run The Inferno. They run most supernatural casinos. Patient, calculating, rigging every game just enough that house always wins. They've been perfecting probability manipulation for millennia. I'm here because I need distraction. The frame's planted, evidence is aging, but I can't spring it yet. Need another week minimum before it looks like I discovered the theft naturally. The waiting's killing me. So I gamble. I head to the roulette table. Ten other players, mix of supernatural. Two vampires, three werewolves, handful of fae. Everyone here has money to burn or debts to ignore.

he declared, his voice resonating with a mix of confidence and anticipation. Georgina found herself entranced by the scene unfolding before her. It was her first encounter with the game of Poker, and she couldn't help but be captivated by the meticulous arrangement of the table. The dealer expertly positioned the cards, ensuring every detail was in place. A small sign caught her eye, bearing the words "Table minimum bet: five thousand euros." It was a stark reminder of the high stakes involved in this game.

I nodded, "What are the mechanics of the game?" "I have a roulette game on my phone, we're going to put our names here..." he showed me his phone on which the roulette game was displayed, "...then, we're going to spin it. Whose name the arrow stopped, that person will choose to answer our question or she/he chooses to drink, but of course, we are going to decide which drink she/he will drink." I smirked. I just have to answer their every question when the arrow points to my name, right?

I observed a little longer, until I thought that I understood the game. There were thirty-nine numbers on the wheel. Nineteen numbers were coloured red; nineteen numbers were black. The odd and even numbers were entirely different. Half of the odd numbers were black; half were red. The first - or last - number was a zero, and it was green. You could bet red, or black, or you could choose odd or even. There were options to choose two numbers, or four - and of course, to bet on a single number. I watched a little longer. Then - I don't know why - I placed 20 gold pieces on red.

I shook my head and said, "No, don't gamble with your lives!" At this moment, I had already understood Roger's words! I knew why he said they staked themselves. There was only one gambling game concerning a revolver, Russian roulette! Russian roulette was a game in which a single round was placed in a revolver. The players, in turn, spun the cylinder, placed the muzzle against their heads, and pulled the trigger. This game didn't end till the bullet hit one of the players. This was a very cruel and terrifying game! If there was a rank of cruelty for gambling games in the world, Russian roulette must be the cruelest.

One cue stick was lying awkwardly on the table, while the others were stacked in a corner beside an unopened crate labeled "imported -Monte Carlo collection," Beside the snooker section, someone had set up a faux poker table with mismatched chairs and a half unrolled red carpet leading to it. A roulette wheel sat lopsided on a stand, its golden spinner still wrapped in plastic. There was even a fake money machine tucked against the wall-probably for that dramatic "raining cash" effect. Right now, it just blinked with a red error light.

he asked, looking from her to the roulette wheel. "I'm not really sure how the games work," Elena admitted. "You place a bet on the roulette table, then the dealer spins the central wheel and throws the ball. When the wheel stops spinning, the ball lands on a number, and that's the winning number," the man explained, smiling with a hint of mischief. Elena scanned the table, the players around her, and the colors on the roulette wheel. Everything seemed very captivating, but it was known that luck played a big role.
