Anything could have happened.
Then I saw him.
Michael was taller than I remembered, and his hair was lighter from the sun. But he had the same kind eyes as my mom - his aunt. When he saw me, his whole face lit up.
"Mikey!" I shouted, dropping my bag and running to him.
He caught me in a huge hug, lifting me off the ground a little. He smelled like soap and coffee and something else - something that meant safety.
"Still calling me that, huh?" he laughed, setting me down. "Some things never change."
