“Sorry, what was that?”
He looked at his watch, checking the time before meeting her eyes, “I’m surprised you forgot.” She was a bit confused, “Ah? I’m sorry… did we have this conversation before?”
She felt a sudden pang of exhaustion crushing through her, weighting heavily on her body. She gazed at Charles, her vision obscuring, his voice seemingly fading.
“Doctor? Are you alright?”
Her grip loosened and the mug slipped between her fingers, shattering into shards on the white floor. She hastily grabbed onto the side of the desk for support, finding it difficult to breathe, “Charles… ca—call lieutenant Brooks—”
