Jayce was startled awake by the sounds of Jordyn vomiting. He jumped up, glad that she was finally awake. She’d been in the pack hospital for two days without waking up. The first thing Myra did when they got back was hook her up on an IV to try and flush the wolfsbane and vampire venom from her system. Her healing magic wasn’t working well with the mix of the two, even Marilyn couldn’t touch it. He rushed over to her bedside, pushing the nurse call button as he tried to keep her from tearing out her IV.

They will be the one that is left with my instructions to carry out should we perish out there. “It feels like tempting fate and signing off on our death certificates.” Meadow breaks loose and walks away from me and stalks to the tree line, gazing out into the fog. She shudders when the dark shadows that always linger and wait out there, flash past eerily, her face paling as she recognizes the one she can’t bear to look at. Unlike me, Meds actively avoids seeing her mate out there, she can’t handle it and wants to pretend he’s asleep somewhere and not here like this. They are always watching, always waiting, poised for our take down and it just adds to the growing unease in our homestead.

none of us want to stay here and growing up is the only way out. Your Awakening is a bit like graduation in a sense. A passing from child to adult and normally where you would find your place, your rank, in the pack, and get a mate. I have no delusions that it means anything of the sort for any of us turning tonight. Of which there are four from the home of unwanteds, and I hear maybe three from the packs around. Just a handful of kids trying to break free, find their path, and all in the great presence of the entire 'Packdom'.

Slowly I sat up feeling like a complete different person it was then that I noticed I'd been laying on top of a stone coffin. He put on top of someone grave? Strength moved through me, settling into my muscles and my bones. Lifting my hands, I notice no changes in them save for the fact that my skin has taken on a dewy sort of glow that's and my arms were exposed. Glancing down I was surprised to find that I was not wearing the white dress I was executed in.

The shadows would not have the final say. I fished the old medallion from my pocket, its surface cool against my palm. Simple yet intricate, it shimmered under the moonlight, engraved with symbols that told of ancient magic and forgotten stories. My fingers traced the contours, pausing at a drop etched with a more visible symbol—a sigil pulsing faintly as if it acknowledged the weight of my heart. Closing my eyes, I held it tightly. "I'm ready," I whispered, pressing it against my chest as if it could unlock all the fears and uncertainties inside me. "I'm waiting." And then, with a final, resolute breath, I tossed the medallion into the river, sealing it in a safe place.

I waited for the memory of Julian’s icy blue eyes and his predatory job offer to fade into the fog of a champagne-induced nightmare. It wasn’t real, I told myself, clutching the silk duvet to my chest. The job offer, the mention of Marcus, the way Julian looked at me like I was a prize to be stolen, just a dream. But then I saw it. On my bedside table, the glass award from the Harvard Business School sat catching the morning light, its edges sharp and undeniable. Beside it lay a heavy, charcoal-colored business card I didn't remember taking, but must have clutched in my hand like a lifeline.

"If you don't want to live, then you can die too." To my surprise, that one strike had not only killed Tyler but also awakened Evelyn. But Edith had already stopped listening to Evelyn's words. She stared blankly ahead, like her soul had left her body. I followed her gaze. It was where Tyler had fallen. I sighed and left the hospital.

Sarah When I woke up Joshua was gently rubbing my head, whispering in my ear. “Wake up sleepy head. Everyone wants to go on a hike today.” I didn’t dare tell him I’d barely gotten any sleep. I sat up and looked around the room, trying to catch my bearings. Joshua leaned in to kiss me good morning but I pushed him away. The last thing I remembered, my mouth was filled with Nate’s semen. I wasn’t about to kiss Joshua. “Not now. I have morning breath,” I told him.

Then he himself will be either killed or forever exiled from his family. Things aren’t meant to be like this. Then, he opens his eyes. And pulls the trigger. --- SOoooooo the book is finished! You just lit up the mountain like a sunrise. Everything was so peaceful, and the transformation was silent for many.” What? I can’t even fathom what she’s saying, as now the glow is diminishing, and darkness is returning, and I can’t see how that’s possible. I wasn’t trying to use my gift or even could in that state.
