My heart pounded so loudly I was certain the Goddess herself could hear it. I reached the center of the pool, where the water rose to my chest. Only then did I realize my hands were shaking. The Priestess lifted her staff and struck the stone once. The sound echoed through the chamber. The air shifted. A low hum filled the space, vibrating through my bones. The runes beneath the water flared brighter, and the pool began to glow from below, casting silver and gold light over my skin. “Close your eyes, Aria Silvercrest,” the Priestess said. “And listen.”

The stone door at the end of the corridor glowed faintly as she approached. She placed her hand against it. The pendant on her chest warmed. With a deep rumble, the door opened. Kael drew his sword instinctively. Beyond the threshold lay a room made entirely of moonstone. A pool sat in the center, its waters shimmering like liquid stars. Aria stepped forward, drawn to the glow. “What is this?” Kael whispered. “A memory pool,” she said slowly. “They used to record visions... and prophecies.” She knelt beside it, dipping her fingers into the water.

I added, and as I spoke, a section of the floor beneath the carvings began to glow with a deep, liquid light that revealed a perfectly still pool of water caught in a basin of roots.
