Those eyes, a vivid, stormy gray, flicked around in search of someone—maybe me. Her cheeks, lightly bronzed even in winter, hinted at time spent outdoors or an active lifestyle. The moment she looked up, her gaze locked on mine.

“She will surprise you. I will leave all the details up to you guys to organize before dinner, OK? Just let her be, honey. She cut off the link after she said that which had me thinking was I pushing her too much already? Maybe she really wasn't ready to be marked yet?. I could feel the disappointment radiating off him, both from his future pack's behavior and his former Alpha's stupidity. Something was not right here. It had to be magic and I was so over all this supernatural crap.

Stormie nodded and just smiled as the girls led us into the small room. Once everyone was situated in the room Stormie made introductions. Sophie was a wolf and Addie was a witch. I could feel the girls appraising my with their eyes. I was used to this and just stood patiently until a growl began in the room. I looked over to Stormie who began coughing a blush quickly creeping up her face. Ah so my little wolf was jealous. I winked at her and took that moment to pull the large brown envelope from my bag, tossing it to the girls.

No one would give me the wolfsbane antidote. To my surprise I was dragged back to the hall and chained to a chair. Some of the wolves sat down with a frown as they dragged me to the podium. My eyes met Magna's eyes and she looked away without any remorse. I scoffed, what was I expecting? That she would ask Grim to come and save me? She also wanted me dead as well. “Wolves of Oro pack. We have found Olivia, an omega from the Lark pack who unfortunately became Grim's mate guilty of treason and shall therefore be sentenced to death. If you have anything to say, you can tell her now”

More coffee," Lark called to the servant outside his study door. "Yes, sir," came the reply. Lark rubbed his tired eyes. Old open books covered his desk. Lucas let out a low, gut-wrenching snarl, and there, entered Sophia, whimpering. She let out a high-pitched, unnatural whine—a sound young wolves make when caught in a lie. The gathered wolves stiffened, their noses twitching, and their ears perking up. A new scent wafted into the air, faint but distinct. The sulfuric stench of the mines. And it was coming from Sophia. The scent clung to her claws, seeped from the spaces between her pads, and lingered in the fibers of her fur.
