This doesn't look like a funeral at all. I haven't seen a single person shed a tear or even look sad. Then again, this was to be expected. Everyone is dressed in black as is custom but instead of crying they're holding glasses of champagne and wine, toasting each other. If I didn't know better, I'd think this was a party, which works for me. I can take people's condolences but they shouldn't expect me to act like a grief-stricken daughter. Deep down I'm happy Padre is dead. I hope he rots in hell.

“If you had left earlier, if you had parked your car and gotten off, Myra wouldn’t be dead!” Mandy was curling up in a corner and crying silently as the adults fought. Matthew was frightened, and my grandmother shed tears as she tried to break up the fight. I was floating in mid-air as I watched the scene. I felt nothing. It turned out that I had let this go after I died. The funeral was quiet and simple. It was the second day of the New Year. People usually spent it gathering with their friends and family, but we were hosting a funeral.

The failing December light forced the service to be brief, and after a few words from the minister and a verse of 'Amazing Grace', Sarah's father was lowered to his final rest. I've been to too many funerals. Three grandparents, two parents, even a friend from college. They didn't get any easier. My eyes began to burn with tears, and without thinking I slid my arm around Sarah's shoulders. That got a sidelong glance from Maggie, but Sarah just leaned into me and returned the gesture, and we held each other as the coffin descended.

He nodded at Logan, forced a smile, and then lowered his head to sip his coffee gloomily. Logan, amidst the joyous laughter in the scene, felt mixed emotions. He inquired, "Aren't you going to the funeral parlor today, Ms. Torres?" The situation perplexed Logan as he questioned, "Isn't today Mr. Thomson's funeral? Why are we having coffee here?" Josh's presence left Logan confused, but he was determined to understand. "It's over. I ordered a cremation at four in the morning. We deliberately held the funeral at night to start fresh in our lives," she replied.

I was here again, at my own funeral. Standing by the far end while I watched my mom cry despite knowing the fact that I am alive and my father stood like a rock, no emotions, I found myself staring at them again yet this time, the coffin was not empty, it was not closed I was in it. How is that possible? This time Damon was not here, my eyes longed for him and it didn’t matter when everyone in the funeral turned to look at me, they stared at me without saying a word.

LUCAS watched as the closed casket was lowered gently into the ground. He gave comfort to Ava as she sobbed into his chest, both feeling depressed but only one showing it. He kept his face emotionless throughout the whole funeral, surrounded by a sea of grief stricken bodies in black outfits. The whole pack watched silently as the beloved member was covered up with soil. In fact, most of the town was present at the funeral, the death touching everyone.

I took the dress and went to my room to change. --- The funeral was outside, under gray clouds that looked like they hadn't slept either. There were maybe fifty people standing around a grave, all of them in black, all of them with faces that didn't smile. The men had hard eyes and their hands stayed in their coat pockets, and I didn't want to know what they were holding in there. Shady was not a strong enough word, these people looked like they had buried bodies before, literally. Adrian stood next to me with his hand on my lower back. He didn't say anything, he just stood there like a statue while a priest said words I didn't listen to.
