Apparently, the male friend I met wasn't his best friend as I thought. Another replaced that position. Another gender, one I soon regretted knowing. Her name was Nora and she arrived just after noon, while the house still smelled faintly of cocoa and pine. I knew someone was coming before I heard the knock. Ethan went still where he stood at the stove, storing milk slowly, like the motion mattered more than the result. “Oh. That must be Nora.” He said. I breathed, maybe a little too loud, because he heard me. His head tilted slightly in curiosity. "Oh, hey. You must be new to 5A?" "No, no, just visiting," Dad answered, patting my shoulder. "But my daughter will be working for the Walkers." Archie grinned. "Guess that makes us neighbors, then. I live next door." "Great," I squeaked, my voice way too high-pitched.

They didn't sleep around or act crazy. When the neighbors found out what happened to me, they rallied together and organized a fundraiser for me. I didn't have to work three jobs anymore. I slowly learned that real safety didn't come from guns or locked doors. It came from people looking out for each other. In the new neighborhood, Draven made a lot of good friends. He grew brighter and more cheerful every day. The smile came back to his face. As he got better, so did I. What Rina did to us became a wake-up call, a reminder to always hold onto your values and not throw yourself into relationships with just anyone.

I looked around and realized the brunette he was hugging was no longer there. "Hey... What's up?" I greeted like how a normal person would when they saw their neighbor. "Come on, don't give me that shit." Kai scoffed. "That was Ophelia and it was just a harmless hug." Of course it was, with your hands all around her waist like that. "And why do you feel the need to explain to me? I mean... I'm just your neighbor. It's really not my business if you are fucking your friend." I said a bit too calmly for the turmoil going on inside of my mind.

He was confused and so was Nick. Tyler sent them a tight smile as he held out his glass of whiskey and took a sip from it. His face was expressionless just like most times. Turning toward the men, he said in an overly bored and dry tone, his voice lacking any interest. “And that is my next-door neighbor, people. Shouldn't we be excited?”

“Are you okay?” I refuse to look at him. “I am fine.” With his hand on my knee, a comforting feeling takes over me. “Gracie, I meant what I said last night. If you need to talk, I am here.” I manage to get a strained thank you out, hoping that if I don’t say much, he will leave it be. It works, he doesn’t push any further. He removes his hand from my knee. Not another word is spoken between us. I still can’t believe he is my new neighbour. Out of all the people in the world, he has to be the one who moves next door. What are the chances of that?

Danielle's POV. The young man flashed another charming smile at me and said with a husky voice, "I am your neighbour from next door. I had no idea that someone has moved in here. Usually, I come to your backyard to meditate and enjoy the view. The view here is a lot better than mine. I was even contemplating moving in here just because of the view." I was still stunned, unable to speak. He wasn't just handsome, he was cheerful and free spirited.

I guess you could say she was a house help, but I could tell that she meant so much more to the family. My parents doted on her and did most things on their own anyway, in fact, it seemed like they kept her here as more of a companion than a help. "So, who lives next door?" I questioned as we waited for some parfait, curiosity of the man I had seen earlier getting to me. "Next door?" My mother looked at me confused for a second before her eyes lit up in realization. "Is that Damon Anderson? Yes, well a young man by name of Damon crowther Anderson he visits here once in a while, he lives next door."
