"I'm fine," I lied, pushing the strange feeling down. "We need to keep moving. Vane is waiting for us."
We navigated through the quiet, carpeted hallways of the upper administration level. Glass windows showed panoramic views of Oakhaven below. From this height, the city looked like a glowing map under attack. Plumes of black smoke rose from multiple sectors, and the artificial blue sky grid was flickering wildly, revealing patches of the real, dark morning sky above.
