Lydia snapped, glaring at him. She muttered a spell, and the walls turned translucent, revealing countless identical objects floating in the void beyond. Their glowing red outlines gave them an ominous appearance. “You have no intention of letting us leave, do you?” she asked. The object pulsed. “Leave the girl chosen by the tortoise, and I will let the rest of you go.” 'It means me,' I thought, a chill running down my spine. The boss stepped forward, placing himself between me and the machine. His voice dropped to a whisper, so low I had to heighten my senses to catch it. “Girl, be honest with me. You use fire magic, and you have heightened senses. Are you a hybrid?”

"Are you certain you want to trade your most precious gift for the Underworld's protection?" A chilling, low voice echoed through the temple. Hades materialized from the shadows. He was the King of the Dead, radiating a biting cold that felt entirely out of place in the Temple of Light I’d served for two years. "I'm sure," I said, a little shocked he had answered in person. But I quickly took a deep breath and steadied my voice. "As long as I can leave this place, I'll give up everything."

Before dusk, my husband Hades and our son Eren appeared on the social feed. By nightfall, the post had spread through every hall of Olympus and every shadow of the Underworld. The post claimed that Hades, lord of the dead, had taken a flower spirit as his lover, and that they were raising a five-year-old son together. The picture under the headline showed Hades standing beside Eren. A woman leaned close to them, smiling softly as she smoothed my son’s hair.
