It smelled like bread and roasted meat, and I didn’t hate it.
“Okay, I’ll say it,” Lily said, tugging off her sunglasses. “I like being outside today.”
“You sound surprised,” Hannah said, flipping her braid over her shoulder.
“I am. Last time I came here, some dude tried to sell me a love potion made out of rat teeth and rosewater.”
“I remember that guy,” I said with a laugh. “He said it worked better if you chanted under the moon.”
“Yeah, and then he winked at me like he wanted to test it on himself.”
