It was time to tell him my terrible secret that I even kept from Sebastion. The grass crunched under our feet as we approached a large, and disfigured barn. It sat in the middle of a meadow well over run with weeds and tall grass. The roof caved in the middle, making a giant hole. The windows had long since shattered, only leaving a frame in it's place. Crows cawed loudly and took off in a flash, dozens screeching as we approached. We where well outside the village limits. No one would be here unless they where absolutely spying on us.

TEN My little rant ruined the mood for a good thirty minutes or so. We wandered silently up and down Main Street, looking for somewhere to blow an hour or two. Nothing really caught our interest until we hit The General Store. Yep. It really was named that. It pretty much had everything you needed for just about any occasion: hardware, housewares, linen, toys and books. After wandering our way through the store, using our mutual silence to heal the sores my little outburst had opened, we eventually made our way to its bookstore out back.

"Nothing mam. Some wild animals. They have been here for thousands of years." "Oh. I see. I have just heard stories during my childhood. It's been thirteen long years since I haven't visited my hometown." She tried to normalize the situation knowing that something was off. "Thirteen is an unlucky number. But never mind, you are always welcome in your hometown." The driver passed a genuine smile while driving as fast as she could. After half an hour or so the cab arrived at her doorstep. Paying him the exact fare she took her luggage and placed it in front of the main door.

If he stopped working for Blair, he would lose his main source of income. "I know what you are thinking about." She touched his arm to make him look at her. "I have signed up on a babysitting website and I have already gotten some gigs. Also, a branch of Carry's bar has opened on the upper side of the city. They need bartenders, you can apply there." Carry's was huge chain of bars and casinos popular throughout the nation. They were a big name. The upper side of the city was the area of the rich. Working there, he would definitely make good money.

I replied with a roll of my eyes. Alpha Cadell held a ball in his very fancy, and extremely huge, mansion. He said it was a celebration for his arrival at the new town. I was sure it wasn't only that. "Just keep your manners. We will be in and out before you even know it." Morgana stressed, and nodded her head at some woman with a winged face mask. Did I mention that this is a masquerade? We live in Midwick, Virginia. A very small and very beautiful town, which one would feel was built right in the middle of the woods.

The next day, Amerie drove the twenty minutes into town to pick up some groceries and explore the shops in the town square. The small town of Luna Park was even more magical in person than it had seemed in the pictures online. It looked like a post card with its white and brick buildings with dark brown roofs against the tall mountains and blue sky. Yellow flower bushes were scattered on street corners and the yellow and orange fall leaves of the Aspen trees lined the roads. The Main Street had lights strung overhead along with a pumpkin themed banner proclaiming the approaching Fall Fest in three weeks.

American Pie, Schitt's Creek, Best in Show. "American Pie guy isn't American?" He looks at me confused before Fiona leaps on his back with the royal crown on her head. It's too big for her. "This is a comedy within itself." I tease. "Oh shut up brother. Go back to your lame couch and pick out something that doesn't make me want to kill myself." "Fine." I know we are all trying to distract ourselves until we hear from the Fae's about Evelyn. For once I pray to the Moon Goddess to energize her, heal her, and protect her. Even if that means from me.

ANA POV I felt like I had been transported into an episode of Gilmore Girls. The small town of Englewood was the epitome of the picture-perfect small town. Small mom and pop shops lined either side of Main Street that ended in a rotary. Finely manicured lawns and shrubs made the brick exterior of the building standout. I had no idea why Xavier looked so concerned that we were stuck here for several days. It seemed like the most ideal place we could have ended up.

“So where is this amazing food you promised me? My brain needs fuel!” Dani laughed, scrubbing the tears from her eyes with the back of her hand. “Alright, let’s go feed that giant brain of yours!” She took Zane on the quick tour through town and ended on Main Street. Johnson’s Feed & Seed, Ingram’s General Store, The Stitch Witch yarn shop and Betty Jo’s Bakery were still there just like she remembered. Their goal today, however, was the newest business on the street. Common Grounds was a café owned and operated by her oldest friend, Maggie, and her brother, JT.

To see normal, modern, everyday people living their lives, driving, hurrying to and fro, caught me off guard. Salem looked almost like any small, New England, suburban town. There were a few chain stores, the typical pharmacies, everything modern, and almost no sign that this town had so much history. The town was also a lot bigger than I had imagined. I had absolutely no idea where to even begin to look for my dad. Caleb must’ve been thinking the same thing at the same time, because he looked over at her with an expression: what now? “Well,” I began, “I guess we didn’t expect him to be standing on Main Street and waiting to give us a big hug.”
