Helena hugged her briefly—warm, sincere—then left her alone.
The door clicked shut.
Selly stood in the middle of the room, breathing ragged. She glanced at the door; it had a lock. But she knew it wouldn’t matter.
On the right wall, almost invisible, was a small panel door flush with the wood. A connecting door. To Alex’s room.
She’d known it was there. He’d mentioned it once, back when he was still pretending to be the friendly father-in-law.
