I closed the notebook with intent, a self-satisfied, optimistic flip of the cover. The library. Just like Hermione Granger, thwarting the evildoers via stacks of old books and possibly a little magic. Of course, I didn’t have Hermione’s good looks, or a Time Turner, but I’d have to make do. Before I crashed out, I tiptoed out of my room to take a piss and maybe brush my teeth after all.

But her excitement and conviction made me believe that it was real. "Wait, so there are actually people with magical powers?" I asked, trying to wrap my head around this new information. "Yes, and it's not just limited to humans. There are also fantastic creatures like dragons, unicorns, and even talking paintings," She replied, her eyes sparkling with wonder. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. It sounded like a world full of endless possibilities and adventure. "And the best part is, Harry Potter, the famous wizard, goes to Hogwarts too. He's the chosen one, destined to defeat the dark wizard, Lord Voldemort," Renee continued, her voice filled with excitement.

I winked at the teenagers at the front. "Every week the library will be stocked with new books, every fictional and non fictional, science , or art themed book you know where to search." I said and they all cheered. "So incase you are looking for a whole harry potter series in one place. You know where to run to!" Reynolds added and the entire place busted with applause. I cut the ribbon and the flash lights captured the moment. I took a couple of pictures with the children before they rushed inside the library. As i climbed the stairs. I saw a child and his mother. He looked familiar. Like i knew him somewhere.

I’m the only student in the entire university who’s allowed to just take these books off the shelf, and the strange library knows that. The library has the same kind of magic as my cousin Kenna’s castle in Veiled Valley. It’s alive. I turn with a tome about magic communication in my hand and watch hundreds of books zooming in a spiral against the turns of the staircase at the center of the library, sorted by magic. But as I pick through the racks back to my usual table, I spot someone else there. “Oh, thank the Goddess,” I rush out, slamming my book down in front of Georgia, who jostles at the noise, choking on her iced coffee.

Until he has me completely. I pressed my fingers into the sheets, staring into the dark. Jason and Kael thought they were protecting me by keeping things quiet, by planning a trap of our own. But Harry wasn’t someone you could outsmart easily. He was ancient. Cursed. Immortal. He had been weaving traps since before I was even born. And now, I felt him weaving one for me. The library always felt like my refuge, but that morning ,it looked different—heavier and darker. I walked between the shelves, my fingertips moving over the spines of old books. The air smelled of dust and ink, but under it was something else. A hum a force.

I reached for the shelves tagged Spell Books on Curses and took out one that caught my eye. It was a hardcover book. The cover was black, and on it was a gold imprint of a spell bottle. "Is it not funny how we keep meeting in unexpected places?" Prince Daryl's voice was small, careful not to enrage the librarian whose hawk eyes followed every movement of the students in the library. But even when it was a whisper, it still sent stills of caresses down my spine. "Perhaps you are stalking me, your Highness," I said, struggling to keep a blank face.

One loaf of corn bread at a time. ***** That night, the library felt colder than usual—cold not from weather, but from something heavier. The kind of cold that sinks into bones when bad news walks in. The moon hung high outside the crystal-glass windows, casting silver shadows across rows of towering bookshelves. I stood at one of the central tables, ancient scrolls and leather-bound grimoires spread open before me. My fingers traced faded ink as I searched through spell after spell, looking for anything about time rifts… about returning to the New Realm. About reversing what I had done.

Mr Collins instructs after he's finished his angry typing. “Reading what?” I ask. “That,” he points to a book that's on the couch where Theo had been sitting moments before. “What the…” I start to ask, then shake my head, “Right away, Professor Dumbledor,” I snark, picking up the book as he leaves the office. The book looks like a modern school textbook, but the title, ‘The Spark’ has me turning to the first page eagerly to finally get some freaking answers!

The library was blissfully empty this early—the scholars and apprentices wouldn't arrive until after the morning meal. I moved deeper into the stacks, fingers trailing along the spines, letting intuition guide me. The section on bonds and magical theory was in the eastern corner, partially hidden behind a massive celestial globe that mapped the night sky from centuries ago.

H U N T E R J O N E S I was reading the second Harry Potter book while leaning against the wall in the alley with Ty on my side. I knew Mey had asked me to read the Goblet of Fire to figure out the three unforgivable curses, but after picking the book randomly, I felt that I owed it to the author to read it from the first book. So I had picked up Harry Potter and The Sorcerer's Stone from the library yesterday, finished the book in seven hours, and had it returned this morning. When I had returned the first one, I immediately borrowed the second one: Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets which was the book I was reading right now.
