We got to a scene where the main character and his friends were choosing nicknames for themselves. I giggled at some of the funny nicknames and turned to Hollis, "Did you ever have a nickname?" He laughed and nodded. "While I was in high school. It was such a funny name." "Tell me." I urged him. "Tiny." He said and I laughed. "What?"

Despite his anxiety, his curiosity got the better of him, and he peeked out from behind me. "What's your name?" the woman demanded. "Ryan, Ryan Lucas," I responded politely, knowing the importance of addressing someone of her stature. However... "I'm not asking you. I meant the little pup behind you." "Why is my brother being called a little pup?" Harry asked, perplexed. "Hiding like that and only peeking out—what else should I call him?" "I-I'm Neil, Neil Caster. Um..." "Stop stammering if you don't want to continue being called a pup!" Her authoritative tone made everyone stand up straighter.

Said ghost was addressing his mustache and goatee with one of his hands, while giving the other ghost around the table a quick pointed look.

She yelled. "You can't blame me for wanting a special name for my baby." I muttered. "There are so many special names! Well, you have me now. What about Voldemort?" I looked at her waiting for her to laugh at the joke but she kept a straight face. "You're joking, right?" "Of course not! I like the name, it's cute." She glared at me like I just stole her firstborn child. "Well, I obviously don't like it." "Okay, what about Brogan, Talon, Chardonnay, Neo, Brent, Luigi, Carlo, Smith, Thomas, Robert?"

Eventually, the uncertainty became unbearable. "Hey, psychopath." The nickname instantly drew attention from everyone at the table. Several heads turned towards him. Nathan paused with his coffee halfway to his lips. Seraphina looked up. Mr. and Mrs. Blackwood exchanged glances. Angela froze completely. Everyone knew that nickname. Everyone knew Lucian hated it. Everyone also knew Adrian used it constantly anyway. Somehow, over the years, it had become part of their friendship. Usually the response was immediate. An insult, a threat, a sarcastic comeback, or something.

“True. You up for that Aide?” I raised my gaze to look at him, puzzled by the sudden nickname. “Aide?” “Don’t know, it kind of happened, or would you rather a cutesy-nickname now you are our mate? I know some people like that sort of thing. Like Boo? Honey… Erm…. Love-bug? Babycakes? Cutie? Stud-muffin? Hot Stuff? Erm…” he paused as he was thinking, and I was trying not to laugh.

Nico asked, becoming interested in this naming game. “Hmm.. I don’t know yet.. What do you think girls?” “Kirran could be a Knight like Armie.. Hehehe..” Nico suggested. “I’ll be a Duke!” “Well..he said it already haha..” Ophelia laughed. The anxiety from the competition was already forgotten. The five of them became fast friends.

Silver, like a silver fox, but it only made things worse when the rest of the class started calling him Silver Boy. Wyatt had tried to make a joke of the nickname by calling himself Mr. Silver. He even started using the nickname to entice the cheerleaders, and much to his surprise, it had worked. But he had hated it nonetheless and he vowed to someday get even with Stuart for giving him the loathsome moniker.
