The books were a revelation. Jasmine traced the leather scrollwork on a book’s blood red cover, admiring the craftsmanship. The gilt edges of the pages and the gold title winked in her reading light. The Haunt were a people who took pride in their literature and wrote even their histories with passion. No bloodless recitals of bare facts here. She scooted down against her raised pillows, seeking a more comfortable position. It was after midnight, but her mind was too seduced by the glory of Haunt history to give in to slumber. The first book she’d read had barely mentioned charmers, but this one seemed more promising.

I suppose it's probably for the best, I don't want him anywhere near this mess, if it were up to me he would have never been exposed to this whole other world. "Everything is fine." I don't even know why I'm saying that. I have three demons in my house and two of them are trying to kill me. "Go back to my room. Everything is going to be fine...." I don't even get to finish that sentence as Soliaire surprises me by finally driving his hand into my flesh, grasping my heart and ultimately burning me. I didn't see it coming because my eyes were sorely on Sky and that gave Soliaire the perfect diversion.

' Julia inquired, arching her eyebrows. 'Yeah, The Lottery,' Lacey confirmed. 'This was from one of her novels, The Haunting of Hill House. They made a couple of movies about it, one that was pretty good way back, and one that well… wasn't… not too long ago. This place reminds me of that book.' We all nodded, even though we had never read it. Everyone felt weird looking at the place like something's using its normal walls as a disguise. 'So, do we just walk in?' Kelly was still indecisive.

I replied as I got to business ignoring him, even though he too also ignored me. I already missed seeing his face, I guessed that's the main reason I came around. I cleaned the Library last and I sat down to read the most interesting and horrific Novel I have ever laid my hands on. People keep dying if they make noise and what is giving suspense now is that the main author's junior sister was just kidnapped by something I don't know and the main actor looked worried, afraid of the fact that his junior sister might have died the same miserable and horrific death his senior sister died. Well, I would have liked to read the novel finished today but I don't want Damon to suspect that I am taking

Helena quickly ran out of the room after she came in and called them and said I found this book on the bed and it's not mine This is the first time I've seen it Is it for any of you? sera said, "This is the first time I've seen him. He's never mine." Mart also said it was not his. Helena looked at them and said suspiciously: I don't know how he came to my room and to my bed, it's really suspicious. Could the house be haunted or what? What the fuck is going on here. That book wasn't there when I came out of the room and we sat down together, I'm sure of that. Mart thought: I don't know what's going on here but let's see what's in this book first and then see what we're going to do.

Joe felt like he had barely slept when the alarm went off on his phone. Cynthia took her arm off her husband and looked at him. The two of them had a chat the previous night when they had come back to bed. Now she looked at him, the strain was evident on her husband’s face. “Did you know the extent of the hauntings?” she asked him carefully as he turned to look at her. “No. No one told me anything at all, just that there were rumors, but if we stuck together, we’ll be all right. I don’t even think they knew that the main house was an issue.” Joe replied thoughtfully.

"Reading novels seems better!" A profound silence reigned in the downstairs room where Miranda stayed, broken only by the rhythmic cadence of her breathing as she sat on the wide bed, propped up against soft pillows, a famous horror novel open in her hands. The words danced before her eyes under the warm glow of the golden bedside lamp, drawing her deeper and deeper into their dark worlds, until it seemed as if she were slipping into her haunted depths.

Lankko closed his eyes and heard the cluck of the chicken against the chirping of the many insects of the forest. "Enjoying your mud bath?" Lankko heard Enzir's voice. He opened his eyes and saw the muddy face and body of his master. Lankko sat up and tried not to laugh at his master's appearance.
