Haunting Adeline Book 1 Novels & Stories

The room felt so cold. Adrain slowly walked towards her, his footsteps echoed through the room. Tap! Tap!! Tap!!! He stopped beside her. Clara quickly closed her eyes. She remembered what the ghost had told her, Don’t look into his eyes. No matter what happens… Don’t do it. “Clara,” Adrain called her softly. She refused to answer. “Look at me!” She shook her head. “No,” Clara refused. His voice remained calm. “I said…. Look at me.”

All in all, I felt ready and eager to face the enemy; which was a good thing because we came across them all too soon. We were almost to the portal into Desolation when a small band of Charles’s vampires stumbled across us. We’d seen them coming and hid in the trees, but my human scent was too so strong it gave me away. As the vampire that discovered me sneered up at me with glee and called to his companions, I looked fervently for Gwendoline and Luthias. They were nowhere to be found. I almost lost my grip on the tree branch as panic seized me. Seeing this, my would-be captors laughed and jeered about how easy it would be to capture me if I just fell into their grasp. They stood below

Maybe if she were a little less impolite, I would have just brushed her off and focused on solely getting back at Gabriella for the embarrassment but no, she just had to talk down to me and that in my book, is unforgivable. We finally got inside the place and I swear, if I thought the exterior of the place was disgusting, I had no idea that it was only a tip of the iceberg. The interior looked, felt and smelt like a place where hundreds of people had died in a not so good way and it sent a crazy, creepy shiver down my spine. "I thought you said this is the best you've got?" I asked an unbothered Chris who simply glared at me briefly before looking away.

Immediately she entered her room, the smell became intense. “Did something die here? Everywhere is smelling,” Adalyn muttered. Adalyn searched the whole room, but she couldn’t find the dead animal. She searched inside the book shelves, wardrobe and cabinets, yet, she couldn’t find the dead animal. “But, I can perceive the smell from this room; show your hideout…,” Adalyn thought. Adalyn lifted the bed and saw something that resembled a human’s head; she used her torchlight to aid her view.

Adeline was shocked. “Are these werewolves able to read minds?” Adeline thought in her mind. “We can't read minds but it's written all over your face. Your expressions are kinda readable.” Josephine told her how they can tell what's going on in her mind. When Adeline was back in Allister house everyone was happy to have her back. She noticed only Vasili was missing there. So she excused herself and went to meet her husband. When she opened the door the room was dark and it was filled with smoke.

My hand was tracing the title. ‘Lilith, grab the book and run quick’ Irene shouted in my head and wasting no time I tightened my grip on it and took it out of the shelf, attaching it to my chest as if it was something precious to me. But the moment I pulled the book, a hand appeared in front of my eyes, long nails, skin cling to the bones, no muscle, big dark spots on hand make them look ugly but scary too. ‘Adrian run out of the library, I found the book’ I shouted from the depth of my lungs and ran towards the door but it got closed by its own.

“Do you see a blue car parked by the side of the street? There is a key in the ignition, start driving, leave the phone on. If you hang up or put me on hold, the deal is off!” “Okay.” “Drive to the beach.” Adele drove carefully. It was evening time and the traffic was a little heavy. She could see Chris, Dan, and Rachel were trying to call her, but she had been told not to hand up so she ignored them. “I am at the beach,” she told Tina. “Good. Start walking towards the cliff. Just before you reach it turn left.” “Okay.” She did as she was told. The more she walked, the less she saw anyone, until she was completely alone.

“It’s open. Trusting. The kind of face that’s never learned to lie.” Each detail matched what I’d seen in my visions, confirming I wasn’t entirely lost to delusion. I could see her now—this Adeline—floating through the halls above me in a dress that caught the light, her golden hair bouncing as she laughed at something Carlisle said. I could see her standing where I once stood, in the grand entryway with its vaulted ceiling and portraits of Brocandale ancestors watching with those same cold, judging eyes. “And her voice?” I pressed, unable to stop myself. “What does she sound like?”

Knox's smile returned, tinged with satisfaction at her compliance. "Yes?" he replied, his voice tinged with a hint of triumph. Taking a steadying breath, Adeline slowly resumed her seat, her gaze fixed unwaveringly on Knox. The room seemed to hold its breath, its very air thick with anticipation, as she mustered the strength to begin recounting her haunting tale. Her words, like delicate threads, wove a tapestry of profound loss, relentless survival, and a desperate search for answers that had consumed her every waking moment.

The kitchen is exactly as it was. I move back to stand at the glass wall that faces the city and I press two fingers to it — light, the way you test a surface for heat. Cold. Real. I look at the city and mutter to myself. “What the fuck am I supposed to do with this, Marcus.” Some boy. ‘Uncle Adrian.’ *•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•*•* The Aldridge Foundation dinner is exactly what it always is.
