He had been quiet, a little too quiet. Something wasn’t right. My instincts led me down the hallway, barefoot and careful not to make the floors creak. A faint sound drifted from the east wing of the house—the old sunroom that no one used anymore. Just murmurs at first. Then low voices. I crept toward it, ducking low when I saw the light beneath the door. Two voices. Sage. And Alvin. How they looked at each other was something I only noticed after I died, rather after they killed me.

I watched him drive away again. I thought it was prudent to follow my routine to the T. Get up, have breakfast, go to college, have David tell Adeline everything—how it was supposed to be. Or rather, how Adeline wanted it to be. I would stay in her sight at all times. The moment Patronus was out of danger, all it would take was a jump from the balcony, and I would be free. Sounds easy, but I wouldn’t be here if it were that simple. The moment I stepped foot in Anderson Mansion, Adeline was waiting in the lobby with a sour, twisted expression, fuming. Killian’s prank hadn’t aged well.

I lay there, shivering, my body trying to heal the invisible wounds of a rejected bond while the silver chains continued to poison my blood. A soft click of the door made my ears twitch. I became alert instantly, my instincts screaming. Someone was here. I forced myself upright, my back scraping against the rough stone as I tried to find my footing. The door creaked open, admitting a sliver of light from the hallway.

Adeline refused to answer my calls and texts, I sure know how she feels about not wanting to see me, I just pray I'm not too late. Rushing into the Mansion No staff greeted me, I had texted them earlier to give the place privacy. Up the curved staircase, past framed black-and-white photographs of city skylines and forgotten family portraits, I moved with purpose toward the master suite. The door was ajar. Inside, Adeline sat on the edge of the bed, still in the charcoal blazer and silk blouse she’d worn to the office that morning. Adeline stood beside it, one hand on her waist while her foot tapped furiously against the marble floor. “Now, what exactly was it I was supposed to hear?” She grunted. “Adeline, it might have started as revenge. I know it doesn’t even make it any better.” I dropped her bags gently beside her bed. I wanted her to see I meant every word, but I couldn’t look at her, not when she stared me down like she was ready to eye laser through me. The worst part was the disgust in her eyes.

"Please! Let me go!" He held her firmly despite her frantic struggle. "I've had enough of the drama," he murmured, his voice eerily composed. "Let's go home." With that, he pierced the needle deep into her flesh. Claire's cries echoed through the forest before gradually fading. Her frantic movements slowed, her strength abandoning her little by little. Her eyelids grew unbearably heavy. The storm blurred before her eyes. Her body went limp in his arms. Adrian drew her closer, gently brushing a kiss against the crown of her head.

They didn’t divorce, but they didn’t seem to reconcile anytime soon. Before Clavier could say anything, Adeline collapsed, and he rushed in to catch her body. “Adeline!” Clavier called as her eyes were slowly closing. He touched her forehead and felt her skin was burning hot as if she was grilled alive. There were red markings all over her arms. With her shaking hands, she reached for something inside the pocket of her jacket. “What’s this?” Clavier asked. “The drug...the First Elder’s blood used to produce the drug...and the research data….” Adeline replied softly before losing consciousness.

I swiped the notes and began reading. About five hours had passed and Adeline was still reading not realizing how long it had been that she had not been seen in the 'Actual world' ~~~~~~ "Adeline" I heard someone's voice call out my name but I had simply thought it was Christan's voice in my imagination, I yawned and rubbed my eyes tiredly not realizing the person staring at me, my back ached from laying down against the cold tiles, I had to change position when It was necessary. "Welcome home Adelina." Now, they were just a few steps away from the front porch of the three storey French Normandy mansion. She glanced around the house vindictively. How much she had missed this sight. Simone drew open the double front door and wheeled Adelina into the mostly dark room. Except for a candle lit in the middle of what she suspected to be a cake, the living room was dark. Just as she was about to ask where everyone had gone, the voices came out in a loud boom.

I am truly taken aback by this girl,what can I possibly do to help her? The servants tell me that she leaves the Manor in the dead cold of night and walks around the grounds while speaking to herself.The snow which has fallen does not even deter her.What frightens me the most though is that the servants tell me she rambles on about magic and the dark arts in her sleep,calling out the names of creatures not of this world.I no longer think I have the strength to deal with her.
