ELISE POV My eyes flew open and locked on red volcanic ones whose aura was unreadable. My breath stopped. My heart didn’t. It slammed against my ribs like it wanted out. Not Derek’s. Not Drake’s. Not Damon’s. I knew their eyes. I hated their eyes. But these weren’t them. These were wrong. Ancient. Hungry. They weren’t in a face. They were just… there. Floating in the dark above me. Watching.
