His fingers hovered over the hilt of the curved blade strapped to his side, aching for chaos, for blood, for permission. “Two guards. Balcony. High-grade rifles,” HY muttered, voice low and eager. “Permission to make it messy?” Behind him, MADCROW—ER—was already hacking into the building’s security with fingers moving faster than thought. His custom wrist rig blinked under the sleeve of his tactical jacket. “Cameras looping. Alarms frozen. Going dark in three... two…”

Blood trailed down my temple and before I could turn, Maverick was down the truck, grabbing an iron pole as he attacked the Moon Hunter who also defended.

Hawk's heart was pounding in his chest, and his feelings told him to be careful as he got out of the car and looked at the three people in front of him. "What's going on?" Hawk's voice held a mixture of anger and trepidation. "David, explain!" David's smirk was infuriating; a flash of his father's stubborn spirit was mirrored in his eyes. "Sorry, Dad, but it's time you owned up to your mistakes." Hawk's growl erupted, his rage threatening to consume him, but he was frozen in place as Cayden's voice cut through the tension, cold and unyielding. "Hawk, you're under arrest for your crimes against the werewolf kind and for endangering the balance."

The others turned to look. “She’s marked,” someone whispered. A few of them stood now, curiosity bright in their faces. “You’re one of them,” another said. “A bounty hunter.” I clenched my fists. “Was,” I corrected. “Not anymore.” The man with the scar smiled faintly. “That’s a dangerous past to carry around here.” “I didn’t have a choice.” He looked at me for a long moment, then tossed me a small piece of bread from his pack. “Eat. You look half-dead.”

A moment later, a guy named Hawk Montana was shoved into the room with such force that he tripped over his own feet and ended up sprawled out in front of me. How fucking fitting. When he tried to get up, I shoved my three-thousand-dollar Italian loafer between his shoulder blades and pushed him back down. I didn’t think the guy would have been inclined to stay if it weren’t for the sound of Dagger shoving a magazine into his new toy—a Heckler & Koch MP5K— before hovering the loud and fatal end over Hawk’s head. “Where’s my money?” I asked in a bored drawl. I had better fucking things to do with my time.

He then turned to me and asked. “How about you, boy?” I was startled. “Ahmm.. Hawkeye of Dark Knight, 17. Best in operating latest gadgets like surveillance cameras and computers. In charge of infiltrating systems of target enemies. Just call me Miko Chan or better yet, Miko outside. Stargazer’s maintenance leader and Polaris’s waiter. I’m so glad to meet you JD-hyung!
