"I used to believe..." I continued quietly. "...that if I apologized enough..." "...or proved myself enough..." "...or reminded you how much we once loved each other..." "...everything would somehow go back to normal." I shook my head. "I don't want normal anymore." She frowned slightly. "What do you want?" I met her eyes. "A new beginning." Her expression softened. "Not because the old marriage didn't matter." I said. "But because I think..." "...that marriage ended a long time ago." The words hung between us painfully.

"I didn't want the attention." "But you're here now, again." "You were waiting," he whispers which I shivered. "You left." "I'm back." "Go away." I clenched my fist. "I don't want to." "Why?" "Because I want you back, Luna." he uttered.

He was like a madman, intent on bringing me back, even if he now had to send his enforcers to kidnap me? He couldn’t truly believe these tactics would make me want to return to him? Or maybe he just didn’t care about what I wanted. He hadn’t cared what I wanted regarding Claire and her baby, so why would he suddenly care if I wanted my freedom? He just wanted me back, even if I didn’t want to be there. “I’m not going back,” I said.

“Because I know what it feels like to make mistakes, to hurt the people you care about. And I’ve hurt you enough already. I don’t want to add to that.” I stared at him, his words sinking in, “Right.” I muttered. I knew he wanted something. I was not special enough for him to just wake up one day and decide that he wanted me back. He went through all of this stress to bring me back with him, and I could bet on everything that he had ulterior motives. “Where are you going to go now?” He asked.

He didn't need to pretend anymore this was him, the man who pretended to love her until a week ago. RING! RING! RING! Her phone rang out, clearing the tension between them but when she looked at it, she laughed. It was Steph. “Steph! Send the moving truck. He wants me out!” she laughed and before he could respond, she pointed a knife to him “DO. NOT. TEST. ME.” and he kept mute.

He released me immediately. “I know,” he said quietly. “I know that now.” My laugh was bitter. “Congratulations. Took you three years.” Silence stretched between us, thick and suffocating. “I didn’t come here to fight,” he said finally. “I came because I want you back.” The words landed wrong—too casual, too entitled. Something inside me snapped. “You want me back,” I repeated slowly, tasting each word. “After you married my cousin behind my back. After you spent my inheritance. After you left me homeless and pregnant.”

He had a confused look on his face. "I thought you left recently. Why are you back again? Did you lose something?" he asked me. I felt a bit angry because I knew that he was going to question me. What does he even mean by did I lose something? “ I did not lose anything. I am back, and I want you to welcome me. I'm ready to stay with you again. And, honestly, I'm really, really, really happy that this is going to work out for us," I said to him. He looked at me a bit angrily but pretended as he opened his hand widely and hugged me.

He pushed my head forward and then pulled it back again, hitting me one more time. I chuckled and glared at him, “So you decided you wanted me back to get your parent's money? If you think I will go back to a psycho like you, you are making a big mistake! I won’t go back to you not in this live time or another live time!” I said through gritted teeth.

What do you want from me? — YOU... YOU... YOU... he said, calming down by some miracle. Believe it or not, I blamed myself for your departure. I should have at least listened to you, and so I would like to make up for it and find out what happened to you after you were kicked out of here, he asked me. For the second or third time, it doesn't matter, I was shocked. I didn't want to dwell on all this. What would my life have been like if at least one person had listened to me?

Not by a long shot. And something—or someone—wanted me back.
