~Hailey My boyfriend and I had just broken up. My heart was completely shattered, so I went to the cinema just to get out of the house and forget about him. The theater was dark, and the seats were mostly full of couples. I sat down next to a guy who looked incredibly hot, even in the dim light. A few minutes into the movie, a really intense sex scene came on the big screen. The room was quiet except for the loud groans from the speakers. I felt a sudden rush of heat through my body. I leaned over slightly and rubbed my bare arm against his. He didn't move away, but he didn't look at me either. He just kept his eyes glued to the screen.

“The Heart. If I can figure out how to control it, maybe we stand a chance against Lilith.” Alaric nodded, his gaze falling to the book in her hands. “That’s a dangerous path you’re walking.” “I don’t have a choice,” she said. “If there’s a chance this can help, I have to take it.” Alaric hesitated, then reached out to gently take the book from her. He flipped through its pages, his brow furrowing. “This text… it’s old. Very old. And if I’m not mistaken, it’s tied to the Heart.”

Excitement took over Ophelia immediately and she rushed to grab the book, it never crossed her mind she would find any book on the ship. "I saw Alpha Finlay sitting right in this spot this morning, he read through a few of the pages before leaving. It's titled A Woman's Heart, is it? Heard it's a book you've read so he brought it along with him to read and think..." Gabe hadn't finished speaking when he looked and saw a very silent Ophelia trembling with the book. She had tears brimming in her eyes and was letting out a sniff. Because that wasn't just an ordinary book she had read. It was her favorite.

I knitted my eyebrows and brought his palm near my heart. “Are you hearing this?” I questioned with a weak smile and instantly his eyes snapped in my direction. He looked at me, then his palm and then lastly held an eye contact with me. His eyes were pale, devoid of every emotions except confusion. “Can I hate my heartbeat?” I asked again but he only searched my face and few minutes later he shook his head. And that’s when my smile went mode bigger. “This heartbeat is for you. So if I couldn’t hate it then how can I hate you?” I said softly and he gets almost startled in shock.

He kissed me then, slow and certain, no cameras watching, no board members judging, no trust clause requiring anything of either of us at all — just two people who'd started as strangers negotiating terms, and become, somewhere in the space between contract and truth, each other's whole and willing home. Outside the window, the city glittered on, indifferent as ever to the small, enormous thing that had just happened in an office on the fortieth floor — but for the first time since a coffee shop shift and a stranger's desperate offer had first collided our two lives together, neither Damien nor I needed the city, or the company, or anyone else's approval, to know exactly what we'd found.

“I think…sometimes I have dreams…that they put these here to later cut out my heart. In my dreams they do.” Nizhoni squeezed him a bit tighter, holding him a bit closer, before turning him enough to make eye contact. She put a hand lightly over his heart, covering the X scar. “No one will ever hurt you like this again, baby. No one.” “Do you promise?” The terror in the question and the hope shined equally in his eyes. She wiped away fresh tears and kissed his forehead. “I swear to you, Jaxsen. You’re safe now, Yanaha. You’re not alone anymore.”

Sunny's POV Parker and I were sharing the same bed but seem like a wall has been built between us. I could feel the awkwardness in the air. Honestly, I am not used to this. This is the first time that someone had confessed his feelings to me. I'm shocked as hell. Even my heart kept on beating so loud and I'm afraid Parker would hear it. He occupied the space beside the wall and I took the side within the edge of the bed. I knew that both of us are still wide awake. I am blaming my heart for this. It kept on beating an exaggerated way. Should I be afraid of having a heart attack? I guess so.

I let out a sigh and let my body fall onto the floor, my back was touching the shelf on the wall filled with different books. "How am I supposed to find the book?" I did not know if I was expecting the book to answer my question considering I was alone in the library, I managed to sneak inside once I ensured no one was around. The library had hundreds of books except for the book with red velvet cover. After I returned from the forest I was eager to find the book, Bernadette was not talking to me either. The list of people who were avoiding me kept increasing daily, first it was Alpha Orion and then Bernadette.

A small, strained sigh escaped her lips as she tentatively opened the book. The first words that caught her eye made her breath hitch, and she could feel tears pricking at the corner of her eyes. 'I still get butterflies even though I've seen you a hundred times.' Sophia could feel her heartbeat slow down as she read through the pages, each word reminding her of a beautiful past she had ruined with her own hands. Every morning, Luke would send her those cute texts, bringing a smile to her face as she read them and she made sure to write down each one he sent.

I close the door behind her and lean my back against it. I’m still not sure if saying yes was the right decision for me. Choosing a life partner is really difficult; it’s one of the hardest choices anyone has to make. The person you choose can bring a lot of happiness and joy into your life, making every day better. On the other hand, if you choose the wrong person, it can lead to a lot of problems and heartache. It’s important to think carefully and consider how this choice will affect your life in the long run.
