The relief was immediately swallowed by a wave of pure irritation. “You said it was an emergency! I thought you were dying!”
“It is an emergency,” he insisted, his expression turning serious, almost pained. He placed a hand over his heart dramatically. “I’m in a critical state, Elliot. Coach says I’m losing my spark. My energy is draining away. I can barely function.”
I narrowed my eyes, my suspicion growing. “Right. So what’s the cure? An energy drink? A defibrillator?”
