Ruby leaned in close, so close he could feel her breath.
“Shut up,” she said softly. “You’ve lived long enough.”
Her hand shot forward. The knife plunged deep into his chest, straight toward his heart.
Hector gasped, the pain white-hot, ripping through him like fire.
His body sagged instantly, helpless.
Ruby held onto his neck with one arm, steadying him as he bled, her other hand gripping the knife as she pushed it deeper.
