Something tightened in my chest, like my heart had been pulled closer to his. “I’ve survived heartbreaks,” I said quietly, “mostly because I never felt this deeply before. What I feel for you… it’s terrifying in the most beautiful way. I know I’ll die if you ever break my heart.” He turned me around so I was facing him, his wet fingers tucking my hair gently behind my ear. “Love is like life,” he whispered, “It’s not always easy and doesn’t always promise happiness. But just like we don’t stop living, we shouldn’t stop loving.”

It feels like concrete drying in my chest. This heartbreak was unexpected, as they always are - top of the world one minute and cut down the next. There is no love in this world, only people using other people. They are in denial if they think otherwise, or perhaps in their mental weakness, they cannot accept other people or even themselves for what they are.

Love makes you feel as if you can hold onto it and rely on it. But in the most unexpected moments, it comes at you and thrashes you back into reality. The reality that love isn't the only thing you can depend on in this world. I was brainwashed into the world opposite of reality, with no worries. Being heartbroken is the basic thing you can say. And probably the only thing you can say for people to understand. Because you can't express the feelings and emotions going through you. You feel ruined, lonely, hopeless. Your heart goes from being a plump, red, important puzzle piece in your body, beating in glee,

I was in the bathroom in my apartment, water cascading over me, when those words resurfaced. "If I were to say it in plain English, I can't stop thinking about you. But in the realm of poetry, I would say that since we met, I couldn't focus all day at work in your absence. Finding the right words to express my love for you is a challenge, for whenever we're alone, my mind seems to cease functioning. Everyone here knows me well, and for quite some time, I had fallen out of love. It seemed impossible for me to feel that way again, despite the presence of beautiful women. Love and heartbreak are only 2 things that make humans strong..!! Love made us strong enough to conquer the world to pursue our dreams to bring happiness in our loved ones life. It made us better people. Better in terms of everything!! We see the world from the eyes with a rainbow, holding the hands of the person we love most.. Everything seems too easy..!! Too beautiful!! With that person, with love in our hearts.. We become stronger!!! Same thing with heartbreak, it makes us strong by making pieces of our heart.. When we put them one by one.. The sculpture was made.. Is unbreakable!!!!! Nobody can shake that heart which has been broken once!!!

The thing about heartbreak was you can’t see anyone other than the person that had hurt you. You can’t see how someone else looks at you because you’re blinded by the pain and betrayal from the past. You looked at everyone like they’re out to get you. Life becomes a series of black and white. Right and wrong. Good and bad. It’s bleak, lonely, and sad. Laughter becomes fleeting and happiness seems nonexistent. And though you appreciate the company and support the wound was still there. Someone may fill up the gap but it doesn’t heal the wound from the past.

He was the first person I ever trusted with my whole self. But he was also my first heartbreak. And first heartbreaks are their own kind of education. They don’t just bruise—they shape. Losing him taught me that love, even when it’s gentle, can still slip through your fingers. That the people who feel like beginnings don’t always stay to write the middle.
