“I’m impressed, but there’s a downside to using guns. That’s why I don’t recommend those things on a rescue mission like this.” My smile dropped. And I realized the mistake I had made when I heard footsteps from the floors above us. I counted twenty, but the number was still increasing. I stared at my gun with a silencer attached to it. “Shit,” I whispered. Elijah gripped my hips and pushed me up the hatch, where Loren was waiting for me. I had forgotten that we are dealing with supernatural enemies with heightened abilities, just like us. The silencer was as good as nothing.

"Keep it steady!" I regained my footing between the bags, aimed, then took another two shots. One hit his upper arm, the other his shoulder, but he kept coming, unfazed by the gushing holes. I shifted my weight onto my other foot and grinned. I might not have stopped him, but the Thornblood dipped bullets had punctured him, binding shade and host to the same satisfying fate. I fired one last time, hitting him strait between his soulless eyes.

Arion looked hopeful as if I would agree. “Yeah, and we don’t hate you. How could we ever hate you?” Arrow looked confused. “Yeah, you are way too cute, and smart, and” Arion paused looking for the word. “Sexy,” Arrow said. His eyes darkened before turning back to the usual amber color. Was I in some sort of alternate universe? What was happening here? That’s it, I died. I died and this is my hell. The Hell twins like me, Darren betrayed me, yup. I’m dead and have gone to hell.

You cheated on Daniella while she was alive, and now that she's dead, you're here acting all heartbroken?"

With a bailiff present, they will meet with the victims or their families, then confess what they have done." The broadcast cut to the repentance scene. I stood beside Sandy and watched Ruby and Danny brought in together, standing side by side. Then, I smiled in satisfaction. "I'll kill you! You murderers!" A bottle of sulfuric acid flew at them. Danny's eyes went wide with terror. Without thinking, he pulled Ruby in front of him. "Ah! Help me! It hurts, it hurts!"

Pelin rushed right into the danger alongside him, helping him support Aylin’s weight and scanning the frantic, shaking cavern, desperately looking for a safer recess in the stone to shield her from the debris. I rolled back the same way I had come, making sure to crush the bone dragon’s rib cage as I passed underneath it. But to my horror, my hellblade bounced off the dragon’s bones with a metallic clink, offering no resistance, no satisfaction. The monster was far more resilient than I had anticipated. Think, Manolya, think! I panicked, my fingers tightening around the hilt of my hellblade. It had already bounced off the creature’s bones once; brute force wasn’t going to save us.
