He was trapped in a storm of blinding lights as the press captured his desperate struggle. Henry was utterly humiliated at that moment. He tried to stammer out another excuse, but a sudden spasm of pain contorted his face. He clutched his chest, his eyes rolled back, and he vomited a mouthful of blood before collapsing unconscious on the floor. Henry had been diagnosed with a sudden stroke, a massive hematoma pressing on his nerves. He would likely have to spend the rest of his life bedridden. For a man who had always been so obsessed with his image and public status, this fate was worse than death.

Henry was leaning on his seat, his body covered under a blanket. He was skinny and withered. The wrinkles on his neck were distinct and his eyes were sunken and dull, while his face was covered in irregular patches of liver spots. A man like him should be surrounded by his children and grandchildren, reveling in familial joy, but Henry appeared desolate and miserable. Even so, Irene still felt no sympathy because it was all Henry's own fault, and he could not blame anyone else.

"Professor Jenner, what happened?" Shawn pulled on his coat. "Henry collapsed. He's already been admitted. They ran tests, and several of his blood panels came back critically abnormal." Talia's stomach dropped. "What did the doctors say?" "Low platelet count. Based on the results, they suspect leukemia, but they haven't confirmed it yet." The color drained from Talia's face. She was a doctor herself. She knew exactly how serious that was. And just that morning, when she had left, Henry had been perfectly fine.

Just as she had finished her examination and turned around, Henry suddenly convulsed, frothing at the mouth. It seemed that he was on the brink of death. The attendants were in a panic, urgently calling upon various experts, mystics, and even energy healers to try and save him. However, various healers, charlatans, and even Reiki therapists all made their appearances, but they were all equally helpless, providing no solutions. Henry was in a state of complete breakdown, overwhelmed by anxiety. His eyes bulged, and he stared at the onlookers in terror, his pleas barely audible.

He moved with the unconscious grace of someone utterly at home in his own skin, and in this fortress of wealth. Jennifer’s breath caught. There was still more to investigate. As she entered the outpatient hall, Adriana noticed several doctors in white coats walking down the corridor. Leading them was Henry, his voice ringing out loudly as he reprimanded someone. “Fracture of the left leg, bleeding from the aorta. The patient has a history of heart disease. Heart disease, was eaten by you? Take it back and rewrite it!” Adriana watched Henry discipline someone for the first time, and it was surprisingly fierce. In her cheerful mood, her voice carried a bright tone as she called out, “Dr. Henry!”

Not on the outside, at least. They call it CIP, or Congenital Insensitivity to Pain.
