How she responded—hesitant at first, then something deeper, something raw.
I closed my eyes, but the memory burned behind them.
"The stars are beautiful."
Her voice, soft, pulled me back. I turned to find her gazing at the sky, something wistful in her expression.
I should have looked away. Instead, I found myself watching her.
The way the faint moonlight kissed her skin. The way her fingers curled slightly, her eyes soft.
I followed her gaze.
