At precisely ten, the screen of my laptop flickered to life, revealing Nakamura in his Tokyo study. He sat framed in what looked like an old-world study, walls lined with floor-to-ceiling mahogany shelves, bound in leather and dusted with age. But the man himself was small inside it.
